It’s my hope that my clients will be inspired and empowered to use the skills learned through our process to write works which are a dynamic, exploratory force for social, personal and artistic communication. Tell me about your book, your stumbling blocks and your goals. Let me help you make your story the best it can be!
Developmental Editing Includes a 30-minute introductory Skype call to discuss your project, two reads, corrections and comments within the manuscript, and a substantive and thoughtful critique (overall structural analysis; feedback on categories listed below; discussion on how you tell your story, its relationship to wider ideas; how your work connects to and communicates with readers). When working with you to clarify and strengthen your manuscript, I'll focus on the following:
Narrative structure (overall and scene-by-scene)
Pacing and tension
Plot & subplots
Characters and dialogue
Narrative voice, POV and tone
Theme and setting
Writing conventions (sentence structure, vocabulary & word usage, grammar and punctuation)
and more!
Line Editing Include two reads, corrections and comments within the manuscript, and overall feedback on writing conventions. Gifts & Challenges Every editing project is accompanied by a personal letter detailing your natural gifts as a storyteller, what shines through most brightly and can be sourced as a strength, as well as potential craft-related challenges that may require refining to propel you to the next level of accomplishment.

What sort of feedback do you provide? That depends on the type of editing your manuscript requires and your vision for the finished product. Before beginning an editing project, we'll connect via phone, Skype or email to discuss your needs, your ideas and how we can best help you shape your manuscript. When your project is complete, I'll provide a personal summary of your gifts and strengths as a writer, as well as your areas of challenge. This allows you to gain an editorial and creative overview of your talents and abilities so that you can refine what works while continuing to improve your skills. FYI, I use Track Changes in MS Word, which incorporates corrections and notes/comments. On the occasion that we work from a printed document, I'll include a page that explains standardized editorial marks.
How long will it take to edit my project? Turn-around times vary depending on the length and scope of your project.
How much do you charge? Rates vary depending on word count, your needs and how much editorial support your manuscript requires.
